Connect your domain name to your Smoobu website 🎥

Your own domain (URL)

Smoobu provides you with a tool that facilitates the creation of your website for your vacation rental properties. But maybe, you already have your own domain (URL) and want to use it to make your new Smoobu website? Because let’s face it, sunsetapartments.com sounds better than sunsetapartments.bookingturbo.com or sunsetapartments.smoobu.net

Domain requirements

Do not buy domains with names that contain umlauts or special characters such as ä, ö, ü, etc.

Connection

There's 2 main steps connect your domain and the Smoobu website:

Step 1: Add the Smoobu DNS record to your domain provider

You will need to change your A record (ipV4 – DNS configuration) to 85.195.81.12

There should be two A records, one for the for the domain with the www (and one without). Both A records should point to 85.195.81.12

1. A-Record (ipV4) pointing to 85.195.81.12 for the domain without www.
2. A-Record (ipV4) pointing to 85.195.81.12 for the domain with www.
3. No more A or AAAA records (ipV6) can be added

Tip: Best to ask your Domain provider directly in their Help section. Can't find that information?

Google search: "how to add an A record" + your domain provider's name

They should have their own guides on where to do this in their website.

Step 2: Add your domain in Smoobu

Have you added the DNS record to your provider? Cool! You’re almost done.

Now go Smoobu.com / Settings / Website builder 

Enter your URL without the www. (in our example: redhouseonthehill.com) in the field “Own URL”.

Click on save

Make sure this button is enabled ON (green)

Starting now, the link will take between 30 minutes and 2 hours to be ready.

Your SSL certificate will also be issued and your site will be considered secure.

You can check your URL's examplename.com and www.examplename.com to check these.
