Do you have photo guidelines?
The photos are an important criteria to encourage guests to book! Therefore, it is particularly important to have professional photos.
In this article, we will explain how to upload these optimized photos to your Smoobu site.
Photos in the rolling carousel / banner
Smoobu's website builder will scroll through photos automatically, this feature is called an image carousel. They can be added here: https://login.smoobu.com/en/website/aboutUs at the bottom of the linked page under "+ Select photos"
These photos randomly show as scroll through the carousel. When viewing the website they display here as the "banner".
Photos for the front page of your website:
In the website builder, when you are preparing your page, you must decide if you want to place the photos vertically or horizontally. Ultimately, it depends on how you use them there. Often small rooms, such as the bathroom, become difficult to photograph in landscape orientation. If you have beautiful photos in vertical format, place them at the beginning of your website. Add a photo by clicking on the icon as shown below.
It will add the photo on the front page, under the front page Booking System / calendar:
Photos of your Accommodations:
Specific photos may only apply to a chosen Accommodation. If so, these can be added here https://login.smoobu.com/en/website/apartments
Special attention should be paid to the following: photos must be entered in a horizontal format. Photos in portrait format are not accepted as they cannot be displayed on 90% of devices. We recommend the 16:9 format. Although the exact size is not important in Smoobu, it is always an advantage if all the images are the same size. In turn, we suggest not loading images over 600kb to prevent your website from becoming too slow and being "punished" by Google for the lack of page speed.
Website logo
The Logo (shown below in our example) can be added here: https://login.smoobu.com/en/website/basics
Please note, it is important that the logo photo is in a square format.
Help! I re-uploaded a photo but my website is showing the "old" one?
If this is happening, please clear your browsers cache and load your website again.
How can I reduce my photos without losing quality?
If you aren't a Photoshop expert, don't worry you don't have to be! We were also looking for the perfect opportunity to optimally optimize our screenshots and graphics and can suggest the online tool Tiny PNG. We automatically process hundreds of images every month. It is very easy to use and free for 20 photos.
You can upload them to https://tinypng.com and then download them again. Then upload these photos to your Smoobu website. The result is exceptional images without much loss of quality at high loading speeds.
