What is Remote Lock?

Guests can use the same access code to access their room as well as shared amenity spaces such as a swimming pool, gym, or business center. Guests never have to deal with the frustration of being locked out — and Host can rest easy with the added security of trackable history.

Integrating RemoteLock and Smoobu allows Host to automatically generate self-expiring access codes for each guest when they book, and remotely manage access for all users. That means guests no longer have to stop at the front desk for check-in—a convenience for the guest and a huge time saver for staff. In fact, some hoteliers have been able to completely eliminate the need for a staffed front desk, freeing up their staff to take care of other essential needs for guests.

Host can streamline check-in and check-out, and promote personal safety by limiting contact with their guests. Guests can receive their access code in advance and go straight to their rooms without visiting the front desk.

How does it work?
From now on, approved bookings / reservations made in Smoobu will be automatically sent to your RemoteLock account. This will then create a code for the guest during the time of their stay and send a message informing the guest of their code and instructions for using the lock. This makes accessing your rental property easier and more efficient.
When is the pincode created?
A unique pincode for each booking will be created when you send a message template which contains the placeholder [remoteLockPin].
In case there is a dates change, your previous pin code will become obsolete (only valid for the original dates). Please, resend your message including the placeholder [remoteLockPin] for Smoobu to generate a new pincode for your RemoteLock Smartlock.
How to use Remote Lock in connection with Smoobu?
Login to your Smoobu Account and click on “Settings” - “Integrations & Partnership”.
Once in that page you will scroll down to Smart Locks section and click on the “RemoteLock” tile for further instruction on how to connect Smoobu to RemoteLock:
1. Contact RemoteLock for API access. Await their reply
2. Then log into https://developer.remotelock.com/oauth/applications/new to create a Smoobu OAuth application
-Redirect URL: https://login.smoobu.com/
-Leave the other fields empty
3. Note the Client ID and Client Secret (The client secret will only display once)
4. Add the Client ID and Client Secret to Smoobu here
5. Map the Smoobu accommodations to relevant lock from RemoteLock
6. Use the Placeholder [remoteLockPin] in your guest communications:
