Unfortunately, Vrbo and some other portals of this group do not have a professional interface for software providers like us. This is why we connect with a two-way iCal synchronization.
Basically, the calendars are linked via the so-called iCal URLs. The set up consists in an link exchange. This means we get an address to pick up the bookings from and Vrbo receives from us a URL through which they can query the current availabilities.
This works very reliably. We import all bookings - on average - within 10 minutes. We are in control of this updating cycle.
Unfortunately, we have no influence on Vrbo's update cycle speed and when does Vrbo collect the availabilities from us and updates the calendar in the portal. This also varies a bit, but usually after 1-2 hours everything is up to date.
Therefore, do not be surprised if you can not directly see the changes from Smoobu on Vrbo, as with most other portals. Just check back after a few hours. If it still does not work, then this might mean that the setup is not complete yet. For example, our ical link has not yet been imported there.
In the future, Vrbo 's technology will eventually be merged to Expedia's. In the end they will have a real-time synchronization including price synchronization.
